THERMYA is an engineering company specialised in the development of innovative processes for producing Carbon by distilling organic solids. Therefore THERMYA is able to produce a new variety of Carbon, the CARMATH^TM and the CORBAN^TM, which proves to be an attractive product for new industrial applications and may also be used as a substitute for “classic” carbonaceous materials, when the products used today reach their technical limits or become too expensive.

THERMYA designs, develops and builds CHARTHERM^TM and CARBSTYL^TM industrial units in France and abroad. To do so, THERMYA has a team of, amongst others: 3 technologists, 3 engineers, 1 architect, 3 researchers, PhD in chemistry and 750 m² of offices and workshops located on the outskirts of Bordeaux, at Villenave d’Ornon. The THERMYA team is divided in 5 different departments:

• The R&D department: The role of the R&D department involves extending the scope of applications of the CARBSTYL^TM and CHARTHERM^TM processes and to improve their performances, more particularly from the technical and energetic aspects. Moreover, it stays up to processes respect the latest environmental regulations. In addition, in partnership with our customers, the R&D department can implement specific development programs for very specific or innovative applications.

• The analytical, test and characterisation laboratory: Working in close collaboration with the R&D department, the lab carries out numerous tests, analyses and characterisation tasks on site.

• The engineering department: This department is in charge of the industrial design and development of all the elements which integrate the CARBSTYL^TM and CHARTHERM^TM units, from the preliminary study to the final realisation. It goes from the layout of the plant to the industrial design of the specific equipments, including the electric diagrams, the automation systems development, the realisation of the supervision system, the data-acquisition system, the PLC,s programming, the electrical switchboard panels design and assembling, etc... This department is in fact the interface between the R&D and the industrial realisations department.

• The industrial realisations department: Working in close collaboration with the customers, this department realise the totality of the CARBSTYL^TM and CHARTHERM^TM plants implementation from the implantation on site to the operators training, including the administrative authorisation procedures follow-up, the equipment fabrication follow-up, the coordination with the other building companies present on the yard, and the assembling and the start-up of the plant.

• The Carbon department: This is the department that is fully focused on Carbon and associated with its applications.

Furthermore, on top of their knowledge of THERMYA technology, two elements of the team have a particular expertise on Environment, Health and Security, to be able to give a technical advice and back up the customers to solve all the administrative problems linked with permits and authorisations required when setting-up a CARBSTYL^TM or CHARTHERM^TM plant.
